Why this blog exists

A gentle welcome for survivors beginning their journey toward healing, growth, and life beyond trauma. This post shares why I’m choosing to speak, learn, and create a space rooted in hope, support, and becoming.

Welcome, my strong survivors.

If you are here, maybe a part of you is ready for something different. Maybe you are tired of carrying the same stress, the same fear, or the same quiet doubts about yourself. Maybe you are ready to believe that life after trauma can hold something new.

Something softer. Something stronger. Something that still belongs to you.

My own story began very young. From my earliest memories, around the age of five, abuse became part of my life and shaped many of the years that followed. For a long time, it felt like a shadow I could never fully outrun.

By my early twenties, I began to understand something important: I could not change what had happened to me, but I could begin changing the way I carried it.

I could let that darkness decide who I became, or I could slowly begin swimming toward something better, even if the journey felt difficult, uncertain, and exhausting.

Today, I am a survivor, a mother, and a student at BYU-Pathway Worldwide. I am building toward a future in sexual violence prevention education, with the hope of supporting women and children in underserved communities around the world.

This blog is part of that beginning.

I want this to be a space for healing, honesty, hope, mental health, survivor experiences, confidence, growth, and the beautiful things that can still come after trauma.

Because what happened to us matters, but it does not get to be the final chapter.

We are still allowed to dream. We are still allowed to grow. We are still allowed to become someone new.

Sometimes the person we have been waiting for is the person we slowly learn to become ourselves.

And maybe this can be the place where that journey begins.
